ATV Helmets

ATV Helmets are a "Must Have" item because due to the nature of riding ATVs, accidents are going to happen. You don't know when or where but the possibility it will happen is high, so we can't stress the importance of wearing a helmet enough. A helmet is your most important piece of riding gear. I have gone through three helmets in my thirty plus years of riding dirt bikes and ATVs. Each helmet has some major scratches and abrasions on them from my mishaps along the way and without them I definitely would not be here today.

I cringe when I see somebody riding without a helmet because the odds of recovering from an accident without a helmet are very slim. Three hundred people die in ATV, or all-terrain vehicle, accidents every year in the United States. The majority of these deaths are caused by head and spinal cord injuries. Protect yourself and encourage the same for others around you - Wear A Helmet!

Make sure your helmet fits snugly and is fasten securely. To check for proper fit, ask someone to try to turn the helmet from side to side after you've strapped it on. If it turns or feels loose, you need to tighten the strap or find a smaller helmet. If the helmet has quick snaps or quick releases, be sure they are set properly. You may want to consider buying quick snaps if you have difficulty strapping the helmet properly.

Your helmet may be a full-face helmet or an open-face helmet. Full-face helmets protect both your head and face and combined with goggles they provide the best protection during a collision, protect from tree branches and falls, provide warmth, and protect from loud noises. Open-face helmets are lighter and cooler. Your helmet should have a safety-approved label from the Department of Transportation (DOT), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), or the Snell Memorial Foundation.
