Luggage & Bags – Your Storage Solution
Don’t Venture onto the Back Country Trails With Loose Gear!
When preparing for my very first ATV camping adventure, I did not have a set of luggage yet, so I basically strapped my camping gear and supplies on my racks with bungee cords and rope. After everything was loaded, my back rack was loaded about two feet high and my front rack was about eighteen inches.
All of this gear stacked high made steering and handling the machine a little cumbersome. So we set off on our adventure to a remote camping spot. Upon arriving at our campsite I realized some of my camping gear and supplies were missing and had apparently come loose and fallen off during the trip. Has this ever happened to you?

Organized, Dry and Secure – Rack Bags and Cargo Boxes
Now, I have been on several camping trips, have the proper lightweight camping gear and found there is no better way to keep your camping gear and supplies organized and secure than with a set of luggage. These uniquely designed rack bags and cargo boxes mount to the existing racks of a utility 4×4 all terrain vehicle.
There are storage solutions for the front and rear racks that come in several different sizes and colors. There are front and rear hard-sided boxes that can be securely attached to the racks with hardware for a permanent installation or attached with straps for easy removal.
There are special packs that attach to the fenders, gas tank, or handle bars. There is a rear rack pack with an integrated cover that protects the seat, handlebars, and front rack from the elements when the ATV is parked. There are even rack packs with integrated coolers in them.
There is also soft-sided coolers. Some packs are made from water-repellent canvas-like polyester material and the hard-sided waterproof cargo boxes are made from reinforced composite material or polyethylene.
When packing your clothes for an ATV camping trip use Travel Space Bags, because when they are compressed they easily fit in your luggage.
Luggage Types
What kind of packs are best? Well it depends on how you use your machine, if you just use it to plow snow and go back & forth to the mail box then you probably don’t need any more storage. If you go on rides with your friends and family then maybe a set of the fender, gas tank, or handle bar packs would be enough. If you go on long rides or camping then you will need extra storage on the front and rear racks.. If you have an ATV winch, then you will need extra storage to carry your winch accessories.
Hard-Sided Cargo Boxes
If security, dust, and weather is a concern then a set of the hard-sided boxes is a must. Most of the hard-sided boxes have the capability to be locked for security and some of these boxes have the option to mount to the racks with hardware for a more permanent installation or straps for quick and easy removal. These hard-sided boxes come in several different sizes and configurations.
Soft-Sided Rack Bags
If weight is a concern then the soft-sided canvas-like bags are good lightweight alternatives. The soft-sided bags do require a little maintenance if they have zippers, over time dirt and crud get into these zippers making them very difficult to use. Periodically clean the zippers with soap and water. Also rubbing some wax or bar soap on them helps keep them moving freely. With the hard-sided boxes the contents need to be packed well to keep the bouncing of items to a minimum.
